Because Wellness Labels Love Big Words

You’ve heard the words—hy-ya-lur-o-nic acid (thanks for teaching us that one, Eva!), antioxidants, free radicals, mitochondria—usually said very confidently and very fast. But I've got a secret: you don't need to be a cellular scientist to understand what it all means. This glossary simply defines the terms you’ll see throughout skincare and wellness conversations, so you know what’s being referenced and why it matters.

Knowledge and access to understanding are the first steps to taking control of your health—and none of us need to be cellular scientists to do that.

Breaking down your health, cell by cell.

Oxidative Stress. Free Radicals.

Attacking cells and accelerating the aging process.

Free radicals are like sparks from a campfire. One or two...? No big deal. But if they keep flying around unchecked, they can start a forest fire. In your body, free radicals are unstable molecules looking to wreak havoc in your cells, damaging your DNA and break down your cells.

Examples:

  • air and water pollution

  • UV rays from the sun

  • processed food and alcohol

  • smoke

  • environmental toxins and heavy metals.

Oxidative Stress: (aka, "the rust" resulting from the campfire)

Uncontrolled "sparks" that can create the fire

That’s when the sparks get out of control and start burning the forest. The fires can burn very slowly or sometimes quickly, and the results aren't optimal no matter the speed. Over time, the damage builds up like rust on an old bike left in the rain—slow, silent, and destructive if no one stops it.

Yep—you’ll hear us talk about this "RUST" a lot. Why? Because it shows up everywhere. From everyday aches and stiff joints… to the bigger stuff like Parkinson’s, chronic brain trauma in athletes, autoimmune conditions, and even cancers.

Rust is the common thread.

It clogs up your cells, slows their turnover, and weakens the very systems designed to keep you strong.

Antioxidants  Think of it as rust-protection for your cells. Antioxidants neutralize “bad guys” (free radicals) before they can damage and age your cells. These are your firefighters (or your rust-proof coating). They put out sparks before they spread, protecting your cells so the damage doesn’t pile up. Foods like blueberries, dark chocolate, and spinach are full of them—but your body also makes its own.

Glutathione (GSH)
This is your body’s chief firefighter—the most important antioxidant you have. It coordinates the defense, but your supply runs lower as you age, making it harder to control the sparks.

Glutathione: The First Brick of Aging
When this master antioxidant crumbles, the entire foundation of your health begins to crack.

Glutathione (GSH) It’s most important tripeptide in the body - and the body’s core defense system. Without it, we'd  When glutathione falls, the “rust” of oxidative stress takes over—and that’s when aging and disease accelerate.

Mitochondria
The powerhouse inside each cell. They burn fuel (food) into usable energy. When mitochondria are healthy, you thrive. When they sputter, fatigue and aging show up.

Cellular Repair
Your body’s built-in mechanic shop. Cells are constantly fixing themselves—or breaking down if they don’t have the right tools.

Inflammation
The body’s alarm system. Short bursts help you heal (like swelling after a cut). Chronic, low-level inflammation? That’s the kind that slowly wears your body down.

Molecular Encapsulation
A delivery method that “wraps” nutrients in a protective bubble so they survive the journey and get inside your cells—where they can actually do their job.

Half-Life
How long something lasts in your system before it breaks down. IV glutathione? About 10–15 minutes. HydraStat™? 6–8 hours.

Bioavailability
A fancy word for: how much of what you take actually gets into your system and does something. Pills often fail here.
